In addition to the nine peace-related institutions that Dr. Ikeda has founded around the world (see Vision for Peace page), he founded the Soka network of educational institutions spanning seven countries in Asia and the Americas dedicated to global peace and internationalism. These schools include six Soka kindergartens (in Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Hong Kong, and Brazil), four Soka elementary and secondary schools (in Japan, China, and Brazil), two junior colleges (in Japan and India), and two universities (in Japan and the United States).
Soka Education in Practice
The starting point and essence of Soka (value-creating) education is the spirit to treasure each student’s individuality so that they can become happy and enjoy a glorious future. Education does not exist for the sake of the nation, for business, or for religion. The aim of Soka education is the happiness of oneself and others, as well as society as a whole, and peace for all humanity.
— Daisaku Ikeda
